Product Care & Installation Help Guide
Proper installation technique and regular maintenance ensure your structural hardware fittings deliver decades of reliable service. Below is practical guidance for our key categories.
1. Timber Joint Braces & Corner Angle Brackets
- Hardwood Pilot Holes: Although our supplied screws feature sharp cutting points, pre-drilling a 2mm pilot hole in dense hardwoods (such as green oak or seasoned timber) eliminates wood splitting and ensures optimal clamping tension.
- Flush Seating: Adjust your cordless drill's torque clutch so screw heads sit neatly flush within the bracket's countersunk recess without over-tightening into the timber grain.
- Environment Suitability: Baked white powder-coated and brushed stainless steel brackets are suitable for both indoor high-moisture rooms (bathrooms, kitchens) and sheltered outdoor timberwork.
2. Fence Post Repair Spurs & Ground Stakes
- Driving Protection: Always use a sacrificial wooden block or specialized driving cap over the top of the spur before striking with a sledgehammer to prevent edge deformation.
- Subterranean Clearance: Before driving deep 33-inch or 24-inch earth anchors into property boundaries, confirm the absence of buried utilities, water lines, or armoured electrical garden cables.
- Drainage: In damp clay soils, ensure soil around the timber base is angled slightly away to prevent stagnant rainwater pooling against the timber junction.
3. Structural Hex Bolts & Fasteners (M12 / M16)
- Washer Sequence: Place the heavy flat washer directly against the timber or metal surface, followed by the split spring lock washer beneath the hexagon nut. This configuration buffers mechanical vibration and distributes clamping pressure.
- Cleaning Care: Stainless steel fixings can be wiped with warm water and mild soap to remove atmospheric dirt or road grime. Avoid abrasive chlorine bleaches.
